Liberty heads into the season with a young squad, led by junior A.J. Williams who averaged 17.4 points per game last year but missed 10 games with a broken arm suffered against Wyoming East.
In two years Williams has scored 575 points and is averaging 16.9 points per game in 34 games.
Also back is senior Braden Howell, a regarded defensive player who found his offense in Williams’ absence, with a career-high 30 against Midland Trail and 24 against Van. Howell averaged 11.6 points per game but 16.3 when Williams was sidelined. He had 26 3s, 18 over the second half of the season.
Big man Adam Drennen is back in the fold after averaging 13.1 points, with 17 double-figure games, including a season-best 20 against Oak Hill.
Trey Tabor adds another experienced guard to the mix and Independence transfer Conner Cantley is expected to add to the backcourt depth.
The Raiders will scrimmage Meadow Bridge in Glen Daniel March 2 at 6 p.m.
