The Region 3 Cross County Championships for Class A and Class AA have been officially relocated from Westside High School to Little Beaver State Park in Beaver.
A positive Covid test was discovered at the Westside late last week necessitating the change.
Wyoming County moved to red status on the Covid re-entry metrics map Monday morning further complicating matters for runners from Westside and Wyoming East.
Race times will be the same with:  Class AA Girls at 1:00 pm; Class AA Boys at 1:45 pm; Class A Girls at 3:00 pm and Class A Boys at 3:45 pm
“We are still awaiting directions on whether any of our Wyoming County runners will be permitted to run because of our Red Color Code designation this morning,” Westside Cross Country Coach and running advocate L. Dale Stewart said.
Schools expected to run, if permitted by their County boards, are:  Class A – Charleston Catholic, James Monroe, Richwood, River View, Summers County and Webster County.  
Class A Region 3 schools without a cross country team this year are Greater Beckley Christion, Greenbrier West, Mount View and Pocahontas County.
Class AA schools in Region 3 are:  Bluefield, Clay County, Herbert Hoover, Independence, Liberty (Raleigh), Nicholas County, Pikeview, Shady Spring, Westside and Wyoming East.  All Class AA schools in Region 3 have teams and are eligible to compete, if permitted to do so by applicable Color Codes and Health Departments.  
The Region is expected to be strong this year with 4 of the Top 10 Boys Class AA teams in Nicholas County, Shady Spring, Pikeview and Herbert Hoover. 
On the Class AA Girls side, Nicholas County, Shady Spring and Pikeview are strong teams.  
In boys Class A, Charleston Catholic is a Top 10 team.  
In the Class A girls category, Charleston Catholic and top rated teams.
In Class AAA Woodrow Wilson’s teams are ranked sixth in both boys and girls. The Class AAA Meet will be at Meadowood Park in Tornado beginning at 4:45 p.m. with the girls race.
